Your Questions, Answered

Quick answers about our tax services.

Which paperwork should I gather?

Typically your W-2s and 1099s, last year's return, records of deductions such as mortgage interest, charitable gifts and childcare, and any IRS letters you received. We'll send a checklist tailored to you.

How early in the year should planning start?

As early in the year as possible. Many strategies must be completed by December 31, so mid-year or earlier gives you the most options.

What kinds of questions can you advise on?

Common topics include selling a home or rental, starting a business, choosing an LLC or S-Corp, hiring, retirement withdrawals and major purchases.

How is tax strategy different from tax planning?

Planning focuses on the current year. Strategy is the multi-year roadmap behind it, including structure and long-term goals.

Do I need to pay quarterly estimated taxes?

Usually yes, if you expect to owe $1,000 or more for the year after withholding and credits. We'll calculate the right amounts.

When are corporate returns due?

S-Corp returns are generally due March 15 and C-Corp returns April 15 for calendar-year companies. Extensions are available.
